Body/Speak features guests from colleges, universities, and dance companies across the region who join CSU Dance for an evening of diverse dance. “This concert brings our community together to showcase what’s happening in dance across Colorado and Wyoming,” said Director of Dance Emily Morgan.

Uprooted, a dance for camera produced and directed in collaboration with professor Stephany Slaughter at Alma College was selected to be exhibited at the Festival de Cine Latino Americano.

Uprooted, a dance for camera produced and directed in collaboration with professor Stephany Slaughter at Alma College was selected to be exhibited at the Jomba! Dance Festival. Organized by the Center For Creative Arts and the College of Humanities of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, in Durban, South Africa, the festival is in its 22nd year.

Uprooted was selected to be screened at the EXCHANGE Choreography Festival, July 23-25, 2020.

EXCHANGE: is a program of curated dance performances of choreographed works as well as workshops and networking events designed to foster dialogue. The events are centered around moderated audience/colleague discussions to support, explore, and inform the artists' process.

UPROOTED, a dance for camera project that uses contemporary and Mid-Michigan site-specific dance, metaphor, and movement to address issues of immigration, migration, and displacement to a soundtrack of local immigrant stories that narrate their relationships to the concept of Uprooted, a film by Rosely Conz and Stephany Slaughter.

ADF’s International Screendance Festival, and Movies by Movers, have screened over 500 films combined. In 2016, the two festivals merged and launched ADF’s 21st year of celebrating screen dance. Uprooted, a project I’ve done in collaboration with Stephany Slaughter, was selected for ADF’s 2020 lineup.

The Embodied Diversity and Inclusion Practices is a series of conversations lead by diverse artist-scholars. We are excited to share the expertise of Mel Chua and Rosely Conz virtually!

Mel Chua and Rosely Conz will share virtual content which will address intersections of inclusion, diversity, and access in complex intersectional identities and cross-disciplinary fields of study. This program is supported in by Arts and Lectures and has overlap with several programs and departments across our campus.

Founded by Mayra Morales and Ray Eliot Schwartz, professors of dance at Fundación Universidad de las Américas, Puebla, Performática is a festival, a conference, a workshop, a community builder, an exchange project, and a creative vision inspired by years of exposure to international workshops, performance festivals, academic conferences, and community art projects.

I was selected this year to teach the masterclass “Daring to Take Up Space”. The selection committee was formed by artists: Colectivo Precario Eje, Colleen Fitzgerald, Julian Barnett, and Julie Rothschild

Unfortunately, the event was understandably canceled due to the global pandemic.

The dance for camera Uprooted was selected for the Mosaic Filme Festival in Clarkston, GA.

“It offers a wide variety of exciting movie screenings, panel discussions, and workshops from emerging and established filmmakers. Georgia Piedmont Technical College plays host to this film festival and seeks to showcase unique stories from a diverse population. MFF features competitions at the professional and amateur levels of filmmaking, recognizing exceptional contributions in conveying the film narrative.”

Uprooted has been accepted to The Women's Film Festival in Philadelphia in March for its East Coast premiere!

The dance for camera Uprooted, done in collaboration with Professor Stephany Slaughter from Alma College, was selected for the 11th Midwest Regional Alternative Dance Festival (RAD Fest), March 6-8, 2020. It is an adjudicated dance festival, which showcases the best in live contemporary dance and screendance from around the country and around the world. RAD Fest boasts 6 different live performances, two screendance series, 8 master classes, discussion panels, and surrounding networking events.

Uprooted, a dance for camera done in collaboration with Professor Stephany Slaughter, from Alma College, was selected to In/Motion Chicago’s Dance Film Festival. It was exhibited on Feb 22nd, 2020.

The dance for camera Uprooted, done in collaboration with professor Stephany Slaughter, from Alma College, was select for the Grand Rapids Feminist Film Festival (GRFFF).

The film 60 Seconds, a collaboration with Adam Sekuler, was presented during the Local Sightings 2019 - Frame by Frame: Dance Shorts Program.

The dance / film residency is offered by the Northwest Film Forum and the Velocity Dance Center, in Seattle, WA, to an artistic team selected through this year’s Dance Film Challenge. Teams and individuals were invited to submit one dance film up to 60 seconds in length.

My solo, Inverted Roots, was selected to be presented at the Exchange Choreography Festival in Tulsa, Oklahoma. July 26-27, 2019

June 20-30th, 2019 - Morelia, Mexico - TerraBlue was presented as part of the Congreso Internacional de Artes Escénicas - Alternativas para la enseñanza y la creación en el ambiente universitario and and Espacios Latentes.

July 2-7th, 2019 - My dance for camera TerraBlue, created in collaboration with Ana Baer, from Texas State University, in San Marco, Texas, was presented at the event Corpo e Câmera: Composição Coreográfica na Videodança, in the city of Campinas, São Paulo state, Brazil. The event was curated by Karina Almeida and had workshops opened to the community. Sesc is a renowned organization in Brazil with units all over the state.

Dance for camera Uprooted, created in collaboration with Stephany Slaughter, from Alma College, was presented at Hemi Encuentro, in Mexico City. June 9-15, 2019.

During the period of May 21-30, 2019 - the dance for camera TerraBlue, created in collaboration with Ana Baer, from, Texas State University, was presented as part of the installation Espaços Latentes at the event Sans Souci Brazil.

The Women in Dance Leadership Conference took place at NYU, where the film TerraBlue, done in collaboration with professor Ana Baer, from Texas State University, was presented.
